Liberty, start checking out the regulations for flying. It is correct that dogs are often not allowed if the temps are too hot or too cold. Or that is the US rule anyway. Even with that particular regulation, some airlines will not allow certain breeds to go in the cargo - that includes snub nose dogs. :Badger should not ride in the cargo hold. She will have to go in a carry-on that will fit under the seat.

If you go on-line to the airlines website, you should be able to get the information, inlcuding the charge for transporting the dogs.

you'll also need to check on possible quarantines. Some countries require that animals stay in quarantine for a period of time to ensure that they are healthy.

Just bringing this up again as we may have to fly when transferring for James job in San Fransisco before we finally move to Vancouver (we will drive from SF - Vancouver when the time comes).

Just found some stats on flying your dog and it does not make me feel very easy

So just wondering in anyone has flown from UK to US with their dog in the hold.

Terminator Badger is too big to go in the cabin so would have to go in the hold.

Seeing as a BT is a brachy breed (Smushed in face) a lot of airlines WILL NOT LET THEM FLY IN THE CARGO. There have been too many deaths/law suits. Flying with a pet is so much more affordable than you would think, and i've had a lot of people tell me it's been a lot easier than they thought it would have been. Not to mention it would really reduce the stress of flying! 9 hours seems like a lot... I'd be sure to take away the water a couple hours before. But keep a small bowl in your carry on. I wouldn't worry about them over heating... airplane cabins are soooo cold!
I haven't personally flown with my BT or any pet, but I would check with different airline websites to see their policies on pets and brachy breeds!
