As we have started to look into emigrating it would mean that Badger and Mouse would need to endure a 9 hour flight.

This really worries me as when a friend took her dog home to Switzerland he caught
pneumonia as there was no heat on in the hold.

Has anyone ever done a long haul flight with their dog and any advice to ensure they are as safe as possible?

We are indeed looking to relocate to Vancouver BC

We have enough points and know how beautiful the place is and although they say if your tired of London your tired of life we just want more beautiful scenery in a cleaner environment

Where in Canada are you?

Some airlines are more pet friendly and will allow you to keep your dog under the seat. They have to be under a certain size I think though. If they have to go with luggage, depending on the temperatures wont let dogs fly. I think its in the extreme cold/heat temps. I'm not for sure though but I'll see what I can find. Any idea what airline you might use?

Thanks Ginnafer.. I have never heard of dogs being allowed on the plane with you.. If that was the case it would be fantastic

Have no idea about airlines yet but I would want to get them there with the least fuss for them as possible ie) in one go so they did not have to land and wait and then fly again.

I myself am terrified of flying which is probably not helping matters and a 9 hour flight will be the longest I have done.

My first flight was about 11 hours I think...Ohio to Heathrow in London. It was pretty cool.

What did you think of London? (always interesting to know how others see it)

I think 11 hours would send me over the edge!

I loved it!! We stayed at a hotel in Piccadilly Circus and got to see all the cool stuff. Stonehenge was one of my favorite places, got to see a show at the Astoria (my friend was a huge Who fan) so that was exciting. Everyone was so friendly there. The Hard Rock Cafe was cool too, we went there a lot.
