Default Mills...brokers....unethical breeders...pet stores
Old 03-05-2010, 09:31 PM   #1 (permalink)

If we keep buying puppies from the outlets above they will stay in business...so please do your homework.

Concerning: http://www.tannerspuppies.com/PuppiesForSale.html

Comforting: http://www.stagedoorenglishsetters.c...s_about_us.htm

Also, nice websites do not equate to quality. I visited a very professional website but strangely got the cold shoulder when I wanted to see the dam and sire on site. Interesting and enough to turn me away.

I'm not much for the breeders breeding multiple breeds. These websites you posted, are they known to be bad breeders?

I can't speak personally for the first website but red flags everywhere....

The second website was 2008 AKC breeder of the year.

My point in posting this is that good breeders have high standards, usually have "one" breed, and have limited dogs.

The first one, WTF?
'Make $25.00 for referring a friend after they purchase a puppy.'
and those aren't all dogs they've bred, but just dogs from the area they are selling... uh broker much?
Look at the parents of the puppies they are selling, the dam is okay. But the sire is awful looking.
There's nothing wrong with the second breeder.

JRVL- the second website was posted to be complimentary of her program.

On the BT's from the first website they do not even resemble breed standard. Why are we breeding dogs like this? Because people keep buying them....

Well, you can't fix stupid. Some people want a puppy NOW, and they will buy from anywhere. These are the people who fall for the teacup scam. There is no such thing as teacup anything. They are just reallly small dogs that usually have a ton of health problems. These impulse buyers are usually the ones who dump the dog in a shelter after 6 months or tie the dog outside because they've grown tired of it.
It breaks my heart. The dogs are always the victims.

True Indrajm....

BUT, it's not that people are stupid they just are novice pet owners and don't know what to look for. Although some people just want a cheap puppy so they will buy even knowing the facts or they think they are saving them by buying from mills etc.

I agree that they're not ALL stupid (although some are hehe).
People just need to better educate themselves.

If they won't go to the information, the information needs to come to them. There needs to be more awareness of mills etc in the media so people understand exactly what they are supporting.

You'd be surprised which pet store is blatantly lying about where their dogs come from...
