So someone in my BT meetup group posted that there are 2 Bts that need home on another island. She said that the lady who owns them would cover the cost of shipping them over, they just need new homes. One is a 2-3 year old male (their not sure) and the other is a 5 year old female. I kind of want to meet them and perhaps adopt one, but I'm not sure how Dexter will like having a big brother or sister. I did want to eventually get an older dog as a companion for Dexter, but I don't know about this soon. what do you guys think?

We knew as soon as we got Radar that we would want another one. We were planning on waiting a little longer, mostly because my husband is going overseas for 6 months next year and I will be starting a masters program. But, I was job hunting a few weeks ago on Craigslist and wandered over to the pet section. I found an add for a Boston, which is pretty rare in this area, found Gizmo and here we are with two! They get along pretty good, though it took some getting used to on Gizmo's part. I say go for it!
If your confident with Dexters behaviour at this point training wise, I say go for it, it might be long time before you come across another available boston like this!
And you might regret it later if you don't atleast meet up.
good luck, since he is younger i am sure he will adjust just fine to another dog!!

"You'll have to say, 'Lie Down,' mister," declared a bystander. "That's a Boston Terrier."
I guess I'm also a bit worried about the amount of space we have. we have a 2 bedroom apartment right now. would that be too small for 2 bts? we might move into a 3 bedroom 2 bath place that has a yard, just working on getting a roommate really. and I'm going to be working at a vet clinic, so the medical bills (hopefully no more then annual check ups!) wouldn't be a problem. <sigh> I guess I'm just trying to make sure I'm not being a selfish person, who just wants another BT and doesn't think of he dogs well being. (I also have way too much time on my hands right now to obsess and worry now, Timmy just started workig nights so I'm home alone at night.)

We got Celtic when Stormy was 9 months old. At first she didn't like it that she wasn't getting all the attention, because we had to give Celtic attention he had a pretty bad case. They didn't play because Celtic didn't/ didn't know how to play. But she got over that soon enough. They really have a bond that is unheard of. But yet they still love me. We live in the upstairs of a house and we have 2 bedrooms and the dogs do just fine. I would go meet the dogs and go from there. Any pictures to share?
It sounds like you have enough room for 2. Bostons don't take up that much room. If I remember correctly Dexter is pretty young right? He shouldn't have much of a problem adjusting to a roommate.
Good luck.
hmmmm....I don't know if we're gonna be able to have them meet. The other BT is on another island, and I just started a new job so I don't know if I can get a day off yet. We'll see. I guess if it's meant to be its meant to be, like how it went with Dexter
